IMPORTANT WOOD SCULPTURE

Spanish colonial 18th to 19th century. Depicting a bishop's baculum which shows in it's center the figgure of GOD AS A WISE OLD MAN as ARCHITECT OF THE UNIVERSE holding a PAIR OF COMPASSES ( also called divider )

over PLANET EARTH.

During generations the sculpture had been covered with several layers of primitive paint

which had been taken off, to showe the beauty of the waxed wood sclupture.

123cm high; 54 cm large; 8 cm deep.
